ABOUT THE FILING CABINETS
a message from tENTATIVELY, a cONVENIENCE
From
1978 'til perhaps 1994 was the heyday of my correspondence (which has
continued in a drastically reduced state to the present). I mail-exchanged
with something like 1,400 people - almost all of whom I managed to remember
somehow or another & tried to generally have 'quality' interaction
with. Most of these people were subversive in one way or another &
many used stickers. Whenever I received these stickers in the post I'd
slap a sample on my file cabinets & other wise dispose of the rest.
Of course, I've made my own stickers too. Many stickers were made in collaboration
with Rita Rodentia & were distibuted both by sticking them around
wherever but also in envelopes in the "Street Rat" magazine.
Rita even made some round stickers in imitation of the brand labels on
bananas such as "Bananas Against the WTO" & put them on
a few bananas in a supermarket. Prominent amongst the cabinet stickers
are ones of the bumper crop variety from my favorite political candidate
"Vermin Supreme". Quite a few of these stickers are obscure
cultural references from currents of the so-called "mail-art"
network. Eg: the bumper sticker reading: "FLORIDA'S SHAME" was
made by writer Jack Saunders who lives in FL & has never succeeded
in getting a grant there (or hadn't at the time of the sticker). His not-being-appreciated
by the grants givers is what the sticker references."
NEOISM NOW & THEN!
